A college real estate degree may count toward some Texas licensing education, but it usually does not replace the full pre-licensing requirement for a salesperson license. In Texas, the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) requires 180 hours of qualifying coursework before you can move forward in the licensing process.

What matters most is whether your college classes match TREC-approved subject areas. Courses covering principles of real estate, agency law, contracts, or finance may qualify for credit, but the degree itself does not automatically satisfy the full requirement.
