In Texas, the standard cost to renew a real estate license is $110 for a sales agent or $218 for an individual broker. These are the base state renewal fees when you renew on time and have completed all required continuing education.
The total cost is often higher because of continuing education. Texas license holders must complete approved CE courses, and the price depends on how many hours you still need and which provider you use. If you are still in the licensing stage, a Texas pre-licensing course can also be part of your overall education expenses.
If you miss the renewal deadline, you may have to pay more. Late renewals can include penalties, and some license holders may also owe a $200 CE deferral fee if they are allowed to renew before finishing continuing education.
The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) sets the renewal rules, so it is important to check current requirements before paying. Renewal fees, deadlines, and education rules can change, and TREC’s current guidance controls what you owe.
A sales agent renewing on time should plan for at least $110 plus CE costs. An individual broker should plan for at least $218 plus CE costs. If the renewal is late, add any applicable penalties and deferral fees to that total.
To keep costs down, complete continuing education early, verify your license status, and renew before expiration through the current TREC process. That is usually the simplest and most affordable way to stay active in Texas real estate.
